Where It All Begins

Hawthorn Builders is committed to providing our clients with the best experience possible when designing their new home, addition or remodel project.  Essential to this experience is our Design team, which has the expertise and vision to lead our clients through the process.  We desire to be involved as early as possible.  Whether we work on the design or act as a construction consultant during the process, we work as a team.   We help determine feasibility and collaborate on developing and working together on the budget.  We also work with new home buyers on the potential for renovations on a new home purchase.

Initial Consultation

Whether our clients are building a new home or starting an addition/remodeling project, we can start with an initial design consultation to discuss the project and establish the scope of work for the new space. During this meeting we also establish a preliminary budget for design services.  We can also set up a meeting to review plans that have already been developed by our client’s architect or designer.

Preliminary Design

After the initial consultation, we meet with our clients to review the design concepts for the rooms specified in the scope. Our Design team works closely with our clients and architects during this phase to adjust the design and make sure the spaces meet expectations, both aesthetically and functionally.

Final Design & Specifications

Once the collaborative design process is completed, our clients and our Design team work with our vendors to select finish materials and products for the project. The Design team advises on options, explains applicable product alternatives, and ensures that all choices are in line with the project budget.

Design Services

Our Design team is ready to assist our clients with every selection—all the way down to the bath towels.  As the creative leader on the project, we streamline the decision making  process based on feedback from our clients as to their taste, lead-time needs and budget.  We understand that our clients’ styles can evolve, and from the onset of the engagement, we have the capabilities to assist with selecting finishes, tile, countertops, cabinetry, paint colors, textures, and home decor. This ensures that the home looks and feels as good as it was designed and built. Our comprehensive design services include: Space Planning, Kitchen and Bathroom Design, Appliances, Plumbing Fixtures, Tile & Design, Finish Millwork (i.e. stairs, wainscoting, crown moulding, casing, baseboards, and coffered ceilings), Built-in’s & Finish Casework, Finish Paint Color (interior and exterior), Light Fixtures, Interior Doors & Hardware, Furniture Placement and Wall & Window Treatments.
